easter rabbit
do you believe in the easter bunny?

"a rabbit", you say, "that lays bird eggs in the colors of the rainbow, and is male? what's not to believe??"

spring is the season of rebirth and renewal. plants return to life after winter dormancy and many animals mate and procreate. many pagan cultures held spring festivals to celebrate this renewal of life and promote fertility. one of these festivals was in honor of eostre or eastre or ostara, the goddess of dawn, spring and fertility near and dear to the hearts of the pagans in northern europe.
Easter eggs and the Easter Bunny both featured largely in the annual spring festivals of Ostara.

eostre was closely linked to the hare and the egg, both symbols of fertility.

putting an end to winter, bringing with her the longer, brighter, and blossoming days of springtime, ostara was, of course, a fertility goddess.
you knew when ostara had arrived. The plants flowered and the babies, human and animal, were born. what could be more appropriate than a rabbit as the sacred symbol of a fertility goddess. after all, their propensity for rapid reproduction is well known.

ostara
felt so guilty about arriving late one spring, that she saved the life of a poor bird whose wings were frozen by the late snow. she felt so sorry for him that she turned him into a snow hare so he could run with incredible speed and evade all hunters.

to honor his earlier form as a bird, she gave him the ability to lay eggs in all the colors of the rainbow, but he was only allowed to do this on one day of each year and  participate in her festival day in the spring.
she stipulated that he also had to give away his eggs to the children who were attending. and thus he tradition of the easter bunny began.

easter eggs, the easter bunny, the dawn that arrives with resurrection of life, and the celebration of spring all serve to remind us of the cycle of rebirth and the need for renewal in our lives.

flower fairies of the garden, cicely mary barker (1944)

Where?

Where are the fairies?

Where can we find them?

We've seen the fairy-rings
They leave behind them!

When they have danced all night,

Where do they go?

Lark, in the sky above,
Say, do you know?

It is a secret

No one is telling?

Why, in your garden
Surely they're dwelling!

No need for journeying,

Seeking afar:

Where there are flowers,
There fairies are!

hopscotch // o jogo da macaca

what you need:

a pebble/flat stone/something similar and a piece of chalk, or something that will allow you to draw on the ground.

how to play:
draw a hopscotch design on the ground (like the above picture). the squares should be large enough to fit one foot and to make sure that the pebble thrown into the square won't bounce out too easily.
throw a flat stone or similar object to land on square one. it has to land inside the square without touching the border or bouncing out. if you don't get it right, you lose your turn and pass the stone to the next person. if you do get it, however, go on to the next step.
hop through the squares, skipping the one you have your marker on. each square gets one foot. which foot you start with is up to you. you can't have more than one foot on the ground at a time. always keep your feet inside the appropriate square.
if you step on a line, hop on the wrong square, or step out of the square, you lose your turn. pick up the marker on your way back.
when you get to the last number, turn around (remaining on one foot) and hop your way back in reverse order.
while you're on the square right before the one with your marker, lean down (probably on one foot) and pick it up, then skip over that square and finish up. pass the marker on to the next person. if you completed the course with your marker on square one (and without losing your turn), then throw your marker onto square two on your next turn.
your goal is to complete the course with the marker on each square. the first person to do this wins the game!

/// caramel

caramel ss13  prawle top // hornsea trouser // fowey top // luppit trouser // anniel lace up shoe

caramel was created on pursuit of a modern, distinctive style, which could be individual—yet at the same time luxurious and understated, pieces as beautiful and useful as I could be made.

"why shouldn’t children’s clothes be beautiful and tough-wearing at the same time? why shouldn’t they be luxurious, but also with a refined simplicity?" says Eva Karayiannis, from caramel.

the tale of peter rabbit, by beatrix potter

one of my favourite childhood books:
peter is one of beatrix potter's best known characters and children the world over are familiar with this classic tale of naughty Peter’s escape from Mr. McGregor’s garden.
published in 1902, the tale of peter rabbit is beatrix potter's first book and was expanded from an illustrated letter she had sent to a young friend who was ill.

the story focuses on a family of antropomorphic rabbits, the widowed mother rabbit cautioning her young against entering a vegetable garden grown by a man named mr. mcgregor, who had baked her deceased into a pie!

timeless.

intemporal.

hello.
pink is the colour of happiness and is sometimes seen as lighthearted. brighter pinks are youthful and full of energy. when balancing the passion of red with the purity of white, comes a softer pink that is associated with love and romance, or to those carefree days in one's childhood. therefore it is a sign of hope, as a positive colour that inspires warm and comforting feelings, that everything will be okay.
under.the.pink means to follow that carefreeness of childhood and look for all the magic in everyday life.
